Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
What type of baptism is being referred to here?
As I understand this passage, it is not talking about water baptism at all, but rather about the baptism with the Holy Ghost that occurs after we believe the gospel.
We see in the Scriptures that the apostles believed in Christ before they were baptized with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost.
The Lord Jesus tells his disciples who already believed in him in Acts 1:5 - For John truly baptized with water; but YE SHALL BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY GHOST NOT MANY DAYS HENCE.”
And the pattern for the Gentiles was Cornelius and his kinsmen and near friends whom he had called to hear Peter’s message of the gospel and “the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.”
Peter says of this event - Acts 11:16 - Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but YE SHALL BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY GHOST.
Ephesians 1:13 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT ye believed, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE.

There are several different views about what Mark 16:16 means and that is because there are several different types of baptism mentioned in the Bible.
If we have an understanding of this verse that is in conflict with the other Scriptures then our understanding must be the wrong one.
The apostle Paul stated quite clearly in First Corinthians 1:17 - For Christ sent me NOT TO BAPTIZE, BUT TO PREACH THE GOSPEL: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
1 Corinthians 1:13-17 -
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 For CHRIST SENT ME NOT TO BAPTIZE, BUT TO PREACH THE GOSPEL: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
Water baptism is not part of the gospel that saves us. Otherwise the apostle Paul would have needed to baptize those that believed.
The apostle tells us what the gospel is that saves in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and it does not include water baptism.
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
No mention is made of water baptism in Romans 10:13.
How many different Baptisms are there?
There is water baptism, and the baptism into the death of Christ that took place at the cross, and there is the baptism with the Holy Ghost, and the baptism unto Moses.

Matthew 20:22 - But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be BAPTIZED with the BAPTISM that I am BAPTIZED with? They say unto him, We are able.
Matthew 20:23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be BAPTIZED with the BAPTISM that I am BAPTIZED with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

Luke 12:50 - But I have a BAPTISM to be BAPTIZED with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

And this one on 1 Peter 1:18-21 -
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM DOTH ALSO NOW SAVE US (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but THE ANSWER of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
