Another King James Bible Believer

Subtitle

The Redemption of God’s elect people took place at the cross.

One of the many differences between the theology of “free will choice”/Arminianism and the theology of Monergism (Calvinism) has to do with the extent and effects of the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary.

The consistent “free will choice”/Arminian does not believe that anybody was in fact redeemed by the blood of Christ at the time of his death on cross.

They believe that Christ only made possible a “potential” or “provisional”  redemption that does not become effective unless and until they decide of their own free wills to “accept the offered gift of salvation” and thus make it apply to themselves.

This erroneous “will of the flesh” doctrine is taught in pulpits, sermons and Christian writings all over the world, and yet it is completely contrary to the inspired words of God we find in the King James Bible.

The true words of God declare that the Lord Jesus Christ finished the work he was sent into this world to do.

The Lord Jesus said: “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”  John 4:34

And we have all heard his final words as he hung upon the bloody cross - “It is finished”; and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”  John 19:30.

“thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall SAVE HIS PEOPLE from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

“Feed the church of God, which HE HATH PURCHASED with his own blood.”  Acts 20:28

 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and HAST REDEEMED US TO GOD BY THY BLOOD out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation”. Revelation 5:9

“Christ HATH REDEEMED US from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us” Galatians 3:13

When Christ was made a curse for us on the cross, is when he redeemed us.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not REDEEMED with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

But WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”. 1 Peter 1:18-19.

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered once into the holy place, HAVING OBTAINED ETERNAL REDEMPTION FOR US.”  Hebrews 9:12

“But OF HIM ARE YE IN Christ Jesus, who of God is MADE unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and REDEMPTION.”  1 Corinthians 1:30

The substitutionary death of Christ also redeemed the sins of the Old Testament saints as well all those the Father gave to the Son who are  included in the New Testament.

“And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of DEATH, FOR THE REDEMPTION OF THE TRANSGRESSIONS THAT WERE UNDER THE FIRST TESTAMENT, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” Hebrews 9:15

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, HATH HE QUICKENED TOGETHER WITH HIM, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES;

BLOTTING OUT  the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and TOOK IT OUT OF THE WAY, NAILING IT TO HIS CROSS.” Colossians 2:12-14.

According as he hath CHOSEN US IN HIM BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Having PREDESTINATED US UNTO THE ADOPTION OF CHILDREN by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

In whom WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS,  according to the riches of his grace”. Ephesians 1:4-7

Our Redemption is an accomplished fact that took place at the cross some 2000 years ago, before we were even born into this world.

The gospel is not about something God wants to do or offers to do or has made possible. It is about something God DID in Christ to save his people from our sins.

When God gives us the faith to believe the gospel, it doesn’t make it true. The Truth of God is true whether it is believed or not. It is still and always will be true.

But when we come to have faith in the gospel it is then given to us to believe and to know what God has already done for us at the cross.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures”  1 Corinthians 15:3

“As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should GIVE (not “offer”, not “make possible”) ETERNAL LIFE TO AS MANY AS THOU HAST GIVEN HIM.” John 17:2.

ALL Praise the the Lamb of God who loved us and gave himself for us to present us holy and without blame before the throne of God our heavenly Father.
